Reinventing the Past
The Jewelry
With a background in interior & graphic design, I found myself gravitating to the scraps and memos of architectural materials being discarded, wondering if they too could have another life. During a home renovation project of an early 19th century home, a piece of wood, original to the house, had the perfect size nail hole for a piece of chain. With a few leftover marble mosaic tiles sitting adjacent, a necklace was born.
The Vintage
Some of my favorite memories growing up were climbing through the closest in my grandmother’s attic and combing through her jewelry collection. From the colorful styles from the 60’s & 70’s to the garments handmade in the 20’s and 30’s I was fascinated at the craftsmanship. As an adult, I still love finding the gems that have a story to tell, and aren’t quite ready to retire their dancing shoes.
The Uniqueness
The exciting aspect of working with salvaged materials, is that no piece is alike. All jewelry designs are one offs determined by the shape and size of the found objects. You can see the human hand in the way each is made, perfectly imperfect all in themselves.
The fun part of vintage, is that you’ll be sure to stand out from the crowd!
